ROCK USA
Day 01
The surprise band on Wednesday was Queensryche. They have a new singer and he was incredible. I’ve always kind of sided with Geoff Tate in the feud because to me, he is Queensryche. Well, the new guy can sing and sing so well, I felt like I was cheating on Mr. Tate. They really kicked ass and they have a new album coming out in October.
Day 02
Whitesnake and Judas Priest! Nothing else to say. Whitesnake because they were loud, they played in the rain and they just seemed to have it. I was not a fan of them in the past, but wow… they brought it. Completely a fan now.
JP was awesome as usual. I was a little concerned early in the show because Rob was walking around with a cane. I was bummed and thought of leaving as I didn’t want my eyes to see him at less than his best. As the show went on he was moving better, then, running and eventually rode out on a Harley. All part of the show. Incredible!
Day 03
We actually came to Madison and saw Shinedown for Michelle Welch’s birthday. Great show! I don’t know why they don’t do more of them at the Overture Center, but great band, great venue… great night!
SIMPLE MAN… SKYNYRD AND SHINEDOWN!
Day 04
Tesla, Styx and Def Leppard all kicked as. I just saw Def Leppard at Alpine last year so I knew they were rocking, but Tesla and Styx were pleasant surprises. All really good… just like the old days.
SUMMERFEST
Checked out Linkin Park and loved them. A little disappointed by the opening band who I can’t even remember right now, but others in the crowd felt differently. Oh well, they didn’t do it for me, but LP was great. Best I’ve heard them in a long time.
