Write it? No. Tune it up?

So I’m just scrolling through my Twitter feed one night and I stumble upon “The Hawks Prayer.” I read it and get a good laugh. Some had created a parody of the Lord’s Prayer that focused on the Chicago Blackhawks. Honestly, I thought it was very well done with the exception of a couple of lines. Just the same I figured I would share it.

Well, being a little bit OCD I look at the image a few times which was not the best quality, it wasn’t even and things just didn’t sit well for me. I decided I would just recreate the image and then share it.

Changes

As I worked on the image I began reading it more closely. Things seemed a bit off so I pulled up a copy of the Lord’s Prayer to compare it to. I checked the number of syllables line by line. Things weren’t flowing in a couple of places so I made some minor changes. Eventually, I felt like I had things right.

I put it aside for awhile to let things settle. I went back to it a couple of times and decided that I liked what was done and it was time to share with the world.

Taking Credit?

Is it “better?” I think so, but at the end of the day it was someone else’s idea, the 85% of the writing was someone else’s so what am I taking credit for? Basically, nothing. I just tweaked the image which took zero effort. I made adjustments to the wording. Nothing major. So whoever actually wrote the “Hawk’s Prayer”… nice work. Congrats on a job well done.
