Who said cycling isn’t a contact sport?

Those of you who follow Team 2S1B Cycling have been reading about El Dangeroso and his troubles in early 2014. A cyclist who showed so much promise last season. A cyclist who was removed from his role as a domestique and elevated to the lead rider for Team 2S1B. And yet you look at the results thus far and you have to scratch your head.

  • Tour de El Dennisone – DQ (refer to the story cover photo)
  • Washington Spring Race – 17th
  • Tour of Rain – 14th
  • Lubbock Trophy Race – 8th

Of course there were stage wins at the Southwest Texas Death Ride, but sandwiched between stage victories was a crash and a couple of failed breakaways.

The Just Is Out

So ask yourself… is this guy the next Miguel Indurain or Jan Ulrich (sponsored in part by Krispy Kreme donuts, the drug, ecstacy and the letter L)? Is he ready to lead a team?

In the eyes of the Team 2S1B Directeur Sportif, Marc Dennison, yes, he’s ready. Stated Dennison earlier this year after the race disqualification “Dangeroso rides with anger of a man with 10 chips on each shoulder. In other sports competitors are fueled by the perception of being slighted or disrespected, Dangeroso is angry all the time. He’ll punch a baby and the baby’s mother just for breathing too loud. Crying? Probably closer to death. He is unpredictable and downright out of control.”

What does El Dangeroso mean?

What’s Next?

Will Team 2S1B be able to rein him in? Will they find a way to harness his ability and use it to fuel victories for the team? Who knows? In the mean time, the legend and the enigma that is El Dangeroso continues to be the biggest mystery in all of professional cycling.
